Hospital Days

Our hospital days were filled with visitors and lots of love.
Amelia could not wait to get her hands on Della Ivy.  She told us before she was born that if we went to the hospital during the day somebody better come get her from school.  She said she had not missed any days and she would be missing for Della Ivy’s arrival.

Wesley got his hands on her.  Davis was in the waiting room so Chet and I went out to visit with him a minute.

Papa Tim – Several people have told us she has some of his characteristics.  She definitely got the complexion of the Nelsons.

Uncle Tyler wasn’t quite sure what to do with her.

Moma got lots of loving. She spent the majority of time in the room with us.  She did become jaundice so she had to spend time on the light.
These pictures were the morning after she was born.

We went in on Monday night and she was born late Tuesday night.  We came home on that Friday.
And one more just because I couldn’t resist. This is just too sweet. Those hands.

Right after she was born.
We went in on Monday night, February 24 to start the delivery. The first medicine was given at 10:00. My water broke at 11:30. Dr. Patterson came in around 8:00 am and I was only dilated between 1 and 2. I did get the epidural right after she checked me because contractions were pretty strong. She thought we would have a baby by mid afternoon. However, that was not the case. I did dilate to 8-9 and we started pushing around 8:00 with no luck. She decided to try the vacuum and see if we could get her out. Her head was hitting my pelvic bone with the way she was turned. That didn’t work either. We headed to surgery for c-section. She even had a difficult time getting her out because the way she was turned and her position. She was born with a good bit of bruising on her face and head. She had a pretty large skinned place on her left side of head. It looked like a carpet burn. There was swelling on the back of her head with several fluid filled spots. It was a long day of delivery.

Just a few anxious folks. My Mom wouldn’t sit still long enough to catch her.

My Aunt sent me this pic and said Chet was talking to her. He told her he had waited a long time for her. (I guess almost 10 years was a long time.)

When they brought her to room. I had gotten to see her just a few minutes in recovery after surgery. They brought her to the room around 1:00 am.
